IN MEMORY OF MY TWO BEST FRIENDS
DOUGLAS VINCENT MEED
09/24/1927 - 02/17/2005
My Father was the son of an army officer who
served on the border during the years of the
Mexican Revolution. He volunteered for service in
the United States Army in 1944 at the age of 17,
serving his country as an infantryman during World
War II. Later he worked as a cryptoanalyst in the
Army Security Agency in the European Theater of
Operations. Following military service, he graduated
from the University of Texas at Austin with a
bachelor of arts degree. He also held a master of
arts degree in history from the University of Texas
at El Paso. My Father had been a reporter and
editor for various newspapers and news agencies,
winning a Hearst newspapers writing award in
1954. He was selected as a foreign service officer
with the U.S. Information Agency in 1958, and
served posts in Europe and Asia. Dad had also been
a sailor, a private investigator, a free lance writer,
and had worked in corporate public relations. Upon
retiring, he wrote historical novels, having had nine
books published. Please check Amazon.com or
Barnes and Noble for his listings. Thank you.
CLERIC  12/19/1990 - 01/30/07
My wonderful dog.  I had Cleric for my first 15 years
spent in L.A.  She was the greatest companion.   She
had a great long life, but finally her body just started
failing her.  I didn't want her to be in anymore pain,
so I took her into the vet where I held her as they
assisted her on to her next journey.  She went very
peacefully in my arms.  All dogs go heaven they say.
I hope that's true. She is greatly missed.
